The Aladikulam is a 17 acres irrigation tank located in the foothill of Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR). Aladikulam receives water from Manimuthar reservoir, 8 to 10 months water will be there in the Aladikulam. Good diversity of aquatic plants, birds and other aquatic organisms can then flourish in the tank. Invasive species like Prosopis juliflora and Ipomea carnea have started growing in the tank, affecting the native plants diversity in the tank. The tank bund is strengthened through MGNREG works and good number of trees planted on the bank.
